What do you do if your car breaks down, but you don’t have a regular mechanic? In all likelihood, you search on Google (or one of the other search engines) for mechanics, right? When the results are delivered, you compare how the various mechanics are rated and then read reviews describing experiences other people have had.
Or how about if you’re out of town and want to find a restaurant? You may very well head to Yelp to see which restaurants are popular. In doing so, you can learn about ambiance, service, and, of course, how their food tastes!
Heck, there’s even a decent chance you might have found our office in the first place by searching for “podiatrist in Indianapolis’ (or cute foot surgeon) and seeing what patients have to say.
Fortunately, the majority of our patients have some very kind words! We feel our reviews reflect the way we care for our patients. and the hard work our staff does to provide the top level of care.
This all serves to show the importance of reading online reviews, but let’s take a minute to look at the other side of the coin – why it’s important to leave online reviews. More specifically, why should you consider leaving reviews for doctors?
Well, let’s start with the simple fact that if you’ve benefited by reading reviews left by other people, leaving your own review is a chance to do the same for someone else. When you give your thoughts about your pre-treatment fears, the treatment you received or your office experience, you are helping fellow humans who may have the same problems as you. We are amazed by how many people delay treatment because of pre-conceived ideas, a YouTube video (don’t watch these), or what cousin Vinny told them. Patients are amazed by how easily and quickly they improved after visiting a podiatrist.
Another reason to leave a review is having the opportunity to express your views. Sure, it’s helpful for other people, but this is also an opportunity to speak your mind. Was a staff member exceptionally helpful? Did the doctor help you understand the problem and the reasoning behind his or her treatment plan? Would you recommend the practice to others?
Obviously, everyone loves getting “good” reviews, but what about the “bad” ones?
Doctors perpetually improve the medicine side of our practice. We do not practice the same we did 10 or even 5 years ago. Your impressions of your experience help us on the delivery side of our practices. We want you to be treated well by our staff members – all the way from your initial call until the moment you walk out the door at the end of your appointment…and beyond. Put simply, we hope you don’t’ have a reason to leave a negative review.
If someone does, it gives us the opportunity to review what areas we can improve upon or change altogether. That said, it’s much better to actually talk with us if you’re unhappy or have an issue. By discussing it together, we can determine what can be done to establish a better path forward.
So now that you understand the importance of leaving reviews for doctors, you may want to know how you can do this. Since there are different ways to leave reviews depending on which site you use, we’ve compiled a list of instructions that can help make it easier for you.
